Registration for 2017 summer camps opens on Feb 1.

Do you love science and math? Are you nervous about taking physics next year? Design Connect Create is an immersive hands on experience for every student to explore and have fun with physics. Students form a deep understanding and build confidence to move forward in science knowing they will be successful. Labs, guest speakers, interactive problem solving and engineering challenges fill our day as we explore classic and modern topics in physics.

This two-week day camp meets 9am – 3pm Monday through Friday for girls who will be rising 10th – 12th graders this summer, will have completed Algebra II and plan to take Physics in the Fall.  There is also a session for girls who will be rising 9th graders this summer, will have completed Algebra I and plan to take Physics in the Fall.

Camp will include:

  • A magical demonstration of the principle of inertia
  • Exploring the properties of static electricity
  • Engineering design challenges
  • Reverse engineering a circuit topography
  • Visiting a high-tech company and meeting the summer interns
  • Riding on a hovercraft
  • Matching the motion graph
  • Charting your path through a maze
  • Calculating the collision point of toy cars
  • Using liquid nitrogen to make ice cream

Total cost (registration fee plus tuition) is $600 for the two-week sessions. Registration closes on May 31, 2017. A limited number of full scholarships are available in the open sessions for families that demonstrate financial need. Scholarship applications for young women attending the open sessions are due on May 31, 2017.

Camp applications for women in Austin ISD, Dallas ISD, Fort Worth ISD, Houston ISD and Mesquite ISD are due on April 15, 2017. There is no cost for women accepted into the program in those districts.
